Dr. Stephen O’Connell
Growing up in a military family, our Bellevue med spa founder, Dr. O’Connell, has experienced many different local cultures and is warm and generous when working with his patients. At adulthood, he settled in Washington state, attending the University of Washington, graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts.
He then moved to southern California where he completed medical school at Western University of Health Sciences. His holistic and comprehensive approach to medicine inspired him to undertake more than many physicians attempt in the study of medicine, seeking and achieving both a D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) and an M.D. (Doctor of Medicine).
Dr. O’Connell offers an array of custom rejuvenation treatments tailored to each patient uniquely. Together, he and his team, provide some of the best non-surgical treatments in the field of cosmetic care, including CoolSculpting, BOTOX, Laser Skin Rejuvenation, and Laser Tattoo Removal to name a few.
Postgraduate Studies and Board Certification
His postgraduate medical education included an Internal Medicine Internship year at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, three-year residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and a year of fellowship training at the University of Washington. He is Board-Certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
Researcher and Author
As a resident at the world-renowned University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. O’Connell was actively involved in research, culminating in key authorships in two of the most prestigious journals in his field, Spine Journal and PM&R. He also won Best Resident Oral Scientific Paper Presentation at the state level, “The Rex Newton Award” and at the national level for “Outstanding Oral Scientific Presentation” at the Association for Academic Physiatrists Annual Conference.
As a fellow at The University of Washington, he was first author on a book chapter in Pain Medicine & Interventional Pain Management: A Comprehensive Board Review, titled Local Anesthetics and Membrane-Stabilizing Drugs. With extensive research, clinical training, along with deep real-world experience at top-tier university academic programs and hospitals, Dr. O’Connell brings with him a philosophy rooted in academic excellence and extensive hands-on treatment experience.
